It is our pleasure to invite you to the 6th International Feed Conference! The conference will be held in the City of Bergen at the west coast of Norway the 25th and 26th of October 2018. The conference venue is located in the center of Bergen in walking distance of the main tourist sites.
Bergen is known as the aquacultural capital of Europe, with a large presence of research organizations, industry, and public organization, in relation to salmon farming. This location will give a unique opportunity to, in addition to agricultural feed production, also focus on aquaculture. The aquacultural sector is a fast growing food producing sector with a rapid implementation of novel feed ingredients that requires new risk assessment and development of legislation. For example, new EU legislation on processed animal proteins, including insects, have been first implemented in aquaculture.

As the previous meetings, the conference will have a focus on feed safety to ensure food safety as well as animal welfare and environmental protection. Feed safety assessment includes various substances such as undesirable environmental contaminants and banned antibiotics, which require improved detection capabilities and an understanding of how these compounds affect human and animal health. Moreover, topics such as new feed additives and ingredients, feed security, traceability, and a circular bio-economy have recently received more attention. These have introduced new and other challenges, ranging from feed ingredient authenticity and risk assessment of new feed materials.
The conference aims at bringing together researchers, public organizations, industry and NGOs to reflect on and discuss the current and future challenges for feed.
