Bergen was founded in 1070 by King Olav Kyrre sailing into the harbor, and has ever since attracted people from all quarters of the world. Throughout its history Bergen has been a leading international trade and shipping town.

Bergen is today the center for marine, maritime and petroleum-related research and industrial clusters which are among the most complete and advanced in the world.

Bergen is surrounded by seven mountains, fjords and beautiful and lush scenery. By taking the funicular to Mount Fløyen or the cable car to Mount Ulriken you get a beautiful view of the city, the fjords and the islands around Bergen.

When visit Bergen you must also see beautiful Bryggen which is Unesco World Heritage listed.
